Testimonials

“When my daughter first came to us through adoption it quickly became obvious she experienced the world very differently to us. She had developmental delay, sensory processing differences and was in a near constant state of fear. Working with APT over the last year my daughter has transformed. APT are completely child led and made my daughter feel comfortable with them very quickly. By focussing on helping her to feel safe, she has been able to move through the developmental milestones she missed out on, and her progress has been astonishing. Not only has the impact on her been huge, but we have learned so much about the body, the senses and how we develop, which has made us far better equipped to parent our daughter in the best possible way for her. They have also played a fantastic role in helping my daughter settle into education, contributing to her EHCP and making sure she gets the support she needs. We cannot recommend APT highly enough and feel so fortunate to have found them!

The training and support we have received from Active Play Therapies has been outstanding. Their expertise has been invaluable in supporting individual students, groups and staff within our school. The team at APT are not only highly knowledgeable but also friendly and approachable, which has significantly enhanced our staff’s confidence and understanding. They have reviewed our school environment and our resources and have supported us in making positive changes. Their training has greatly expanded our understanding of sensory systems and sensory circuits, and the sessions have been exceptional. We are looking forward to continuing our work with Anna and her team.

“We have worked with both Anna and Jennie at APT for over four years now. Their therapeutic input, advice and contribution to meetings has been invaluable. Our son always looks forward to sessions. These are totally play and movement based with a focus on following the child/young person’s lead to ensure the best possible experience. We have all learnt so much about movement and sensory integration and the impact that these have on learning and development and we have noticed huge improvements in our son’s body awareness and most of all his confidence to try new things. We feel very lucky to have found such a caring and knowledgable team and would not hesitate to recommend APT to other families.”

“I can’t thankyou enough for what you’ve done for us and the support you give! Jennie will be one person I’ll miss so much out of all of this. My son feels safe around you, he has fun with you and you don’t judge him. The OT at his new school was so happy with your handover that she is shocked with the sheer amount you deliver. Jennie, you are a hidden gem and I’m just so glad we found you. Not all heroes wear capes!”

“Our daughter has benefited hugely from the sensory integration sessions she has had with Jennie and her confidence has vastly improved. She is autistic and suffers with very high anxiety as well as sensory processing difficulties and struggles with her physical co-ordination. She has from a fairly young age tried to mask her difficulties and before these sessions her self-esteem about her abilities was quite low. Since she has been working with Jennie her core stability has improved, she can better isolate her limbs for bilateral skills, her timing, rhythm body confidence and awareness have all improved, and she is more tolerant of sensory stimuli she used to struggle with like messy hands. I didn’t really understand much about the importance of sensory integration and missing development milestones and the links with anxiety before and Jennie has helped me to make sense of things as a parent and I feel much better equipped to help support her with regulating and managing her anxiety levels which is something we have always struggled with at home. I would highly recommend Active Play Therapies.”
